Fletcher Wins Jalapeno Contest
Laramie resident Steve Fletcher (pictured) didn't let the heat bother him Thursday night.
Fletcher beat out 24 competitors by eating 8 large jalapenos in the Flaming Gorge Jalapeno Eating contest as part of Laramie Jubilee Days.
Last year's champion Joshua Riffee couldn't match his pace of 8 1/2 in 2012, but did finish with 6 1/2 for a second place finish this year. Riffee remarked how much larger the jalapenos were this year.
Third place went to Nick Luedde with 5 jalapenos, and fourth place Mike Eaton with 4 1/2.
The contest kicked off the downtown street dances headlined by classic rockers The Flashbacks.
