In a ruling today, Circuit Court Magistrate Scott Cole ordered Everett Conant to undergo a mental evaluation. Conant is being charged for four counts of murder as well as attempted murder for a shooting that took place Thursday July 7th.

Conant shot and killed three of his sons, two of which had disabilities and were high-functioning, as well as his adult brother. Suzette Conant, wife to Everett , survived the attack with minor injuries. The motive is still unknown and Conant was set to begin a criminal case in court Thursday July 14th.

The case will now be on hold while Everett Conant undergoes a 30 day mental evaluation. The evaluation will be conducted by state hospital in Evanston. Kerri Johnson is a lawyer and part of the Wyoming Public Defender's Office. She asked for Conant's mental evaluation on Tuesday, July 12th. According to Johnson, there is reasonable cause to believe Conant may have a mental illness making him unfit for criminal charges.
