LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team looks to close-out the regular season on a high note as Wyoming hosts Colorado State Wednesday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m., inside the AA.

ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming (14-11, 10-6 MW) is coming off an impressive 70-46 win over San Diego State Saturday in Laramie. The Cowgirls outscored the Aztecs 26-9 in the fourth quarter to surge away late from SDSU. McKinley Bradshaw recorded her second 30-plus-point scoring outburst of the season in the win, scoring a game-high 30 on 11-of-22 shooting from the field and 5-for-11 from 3-point range.

Quinn Weidemann added 17 points and hit 5-of-8 from 3-point range. UW held SDSU to just 28.1-percent shooting overall in the victory.

For the second time this season, Bradshaw and Allyson Fertig swept the Mountain West Players of the Week honors as Bradshaw was named the women’s player of the week and Fertig took home freshman of the week. Bradshaw was sensational last week in the Cowgirls’ two wins, averaging 26.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 54.1-percent (20-37) from the field and 9-of-19 (47.4-percent) from 3-point range.

Fertig, meanwhile, averaged 7.5 points per contest in the two wins, pulled down 12 boards per game and averaged three blocks per contest. Fertig opened the week with her seventh double-double of the season against UNLV. It is Fertig’s fifth freshman of the week honor this season.

In the last seven games, the Cowgirls are averaging 16.4 assists per game, including a season-high 21 assists in the win at New Mexico February 5. Over that seven-game span, UW is assisting on 67-percent of its made field goals.

Bradshaw ranks third in the Mountain West in scoring, averaging 15.6 points per game while her 41.3-percent shooting from the floor ranks eighth and her 1.71 3-pointers made per game ranks 14th in the league. Tommi Olson continues to be one of the nation’s leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio as she ranks fourth in the country with a 3.07 ratio. Olson also ranks 12th in the league averaging 3.3 assists per set.

Wednesday will be Senior Night in Laramie as three seniors Olson, Alba Sanchez Ramos and Quinn Weidemann will be honored prior to the game. The trio have combined to start 215 career games and have played 285 games together overall.

SCOUTING COLORADO STATE
Colorado State is led by the second-leading scoring duo in the Mountain West as McKenna Hofschild ranks second in the league in scoring at 16.3 points per game while Upe Atosu is seventh with 15.1 per contest.

Combined, the tandem averages 31.4 points per game, which is only behind the Cavinder twins from Fresno State. Hofschild also leads the league in assists per game with 6.7 per. Atosu leads the Rams with 56 made 3-pointers and 25 steals. Karly Murphy leads CSU and ranks third in the MW averaging 9.1 rebounds per contest.

The Rams rank third in the conference in total scoring, averaging 69.3-points per game and is allowing opponents to score at a 63.4-point clip, which ranks fourth-best in the league. CSU is third in team field goal percentage in the Mountain West shooting 41.6-percent overall and has a league-leading 38-percent opponent field goal percentage. The Rams are also No. 1 in the conference in team defensive rebounds with 30.5 per contest.

Ryun Williams, who is the winningest coach in program history, is in his 10th season as head coach at Colorado State.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST COLORADO STATE
CSU holds the slimmest of margins in the all-time series history with the Cowgirls, leading 54-53, having broken the series tie with the Rams’ Feb. 17 win in Fort Collins. Wednesday’s meeting will be the first in Laramie since early 2020.

UW last won inside the Arena-Auditorium in February of 2019.
