City of Laramie Considers Introducing Electronic Ticketing

At the July 21st meeting of Laramie's City Council, council members unanimously voted to pass forward an ordinance that would introduce electronic ticketing for traffic violations for a second reading. The idea was introduced to the agenda to save officers time and to help city clerks by having tickets automatically entered into the system. The second reading will take place at the August 4th public meeting.

Also passed forward for a second reading with the electronic ticketing is a $10 automation fee that will accompany the tickets for those who plead guilty by going to City Hall to pay for the tickets and those who contest their tickets but are found guilty. Half of the money from the automation fees will go to the state to pay for the processing of the tickets, and the other half will stay in the city. The electronic ticketing is currently in the testing phase.
