Celebrate 125 Years Of Statehood At Wyoming Territorial Prison
Wyoming is celebrating 125 years of statehood in 2015, and the Wyoming Territorial Prison in Laramie is hosting an event for the occasion.
The Wyoming Statehood Day Celebration is held each year at the Wyoming Territorial Prison on July 10 to celebrate Wyoming becoming the 44th state to join the union in 1890.
The celebration start at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 10 and ends at 4 p.m. Starting at 11:15, a free hot dog lunch will be provided to the first 700 people, complete with hot dogs, watermelon, chips and even birthday cake.
The event includes appearances by Laramie Jubilee Days’ royalty, guest speakers, and historical performers. There are also several events for kids such as a money scramble, trick roping demonstrations, train rides, stage coach rides, and even more.
The Wyoming Statehood Day Celebration is free for the public. Admission to the Wyoming Territorial Prison, which was around when Wyoming became a state, is of no cost so the public can take advantage of all the prison has to offer.
