Ask the City: 3rd Street Construction

Question:

How is the construction project happening at the old Cowboy Bar at the corner of 3rd and Grand still operating? There are numerous code violations and based upon my knowledge of the City codes, the UDC requirements would have been triggered as the use has changed with the new business. Why has the city not shut down this project?

Answer:

The construction at the old Cowboy bar is not a Change in Use triggering any site modifications.   Chapter 15 of the Laramie Municipal Code (Unified Development Code) and the Downtown Design Guidelines do not identify standards for the construction of outdoor patios and seating areas. The developer has worked with staff to ensure that all required applications and permits have been applied for.
