For the second time this season, the Laramie Plainsmen were dominated by their opponent. Last Friday night in Cheyenne, #4 East crushed Laramie, 47-6.

Plainsmen head coach Chuck Syverson said,

“Pretty disappointed in our effort, I guess. This was a game that I thought, when we talked about knocking off one of the top four teams, this was going to be one of the teams we’d have a shot at.”

The T-Birds rolled out to a 28-0 lead after the first quarter. They scored on six of their first seven possessions in the game. It was 41-0 at halftime. The only issue that East had in the first half was three turnovers, an interception and two fumbles.

Cheyenne East (5-2) got the ball at the start of the second half. A quick seven play drive resulted in a touchdown pass for a 47-0 lead and the running clock rule was in effect.

Laramie (2-5) was only able to score with 1:29 left in the game. Taylor Dodd connected with Tristan Eickbush on a 12-yard scoring strike. It was the first varsity touchdown pass in Dodd’s career. It capped an 11-play, 97 yard drive that took just over seven minutes off the clock.

T-Bird’s QB Tevis Bartlett ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more. Bartlett was 16-of-22 for 256 yards passing. He added another 64 yards on the ground. Ricky Garnica-Cole, Baylor Hayes and Uriah Gracia added t-d runs in the first half.

Syverson added, “We expected Bartlett to run the ball a little bit more, and he did early on.  Then they started throwing it around a little bit. I think that was just partly, they had gotten a comfortable lead and wanted to work on that.”

East piled up 540 yards of total offense and had 27 first downs in the game. They limited the Plainsmen to only 137 yards and seven first downs.

It was the fifth straight win in the series for the T-Birds.

Laramie will play their regular season home finale Friday night at Deti Stadium. The Plainsmen will host the second-ranked Gillette Camels on Senior Night. The kick-off is at 7 p.m.
