The Laramie Colts will finish off the home portion of their schedule with four home games this weekend at Cowboy Field.

Laramie is scheduled to play the Denver Cougars at 3:30 p.m. Friday and the Colorado Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Those games are followed by a twin bill against the Pirates at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Colts have dropped three straight, which included a pair of losses to the Cougars on the July 4 at Cowboy Field. The finals scores were 6-4 and 10-4.

In game one, the score was tied 4-4 after four innings. The Cougars scratched out runs in the fifth and sixth for the final margin. Garrett DeAraujo led the offense with two hits and an RBI. Stryker Davies lasted five and two-thirds but suffered the loss on the mound.

Game two saw the Colts jump out 3-1 on an error, sacrifice fly and Ryan Nesbit’s RBI-triple. The Cougars tied it in the fourth and took the lead in the fifth. The Denver Cougars pulled away with five in the sixth and added another run in the seventh for a 10-4 victory.

Nesbit had two hits and two RBI’s to lead the Laramie offense on Wednesday. Sam Kornstad went five innings but was the losing pitcher. He allowed four runs on eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

The Cougars had 14 hits in the game two victory.

The Colts dropped to 4-11 on the season and sit in seventh place in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League standings. After closing out their home schedule this weekend, Laramie is set to play on the road against the Rough Riders, Black Bears, and Game Day Saints. The league tournament begins July 19 in Denver.
