The Laramie Colts are getting ready to start the 2014 Rocky Mountain Baseball League Conference Tournament with a trip to Wichita, Kansas on the line.

The winner of the double elimination tournament will advance to Wichita for the National Baseball Congress World Series. The first round matchups were decided by the finish of the teams in the regular season standings.

The fourth seed Colts will take on the fifth seed Impact Sports of Denver for their first game of the tournament. The game is set for 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and will be played at Long Lake Ranch Park in Arvada, CO.

“I think we’ll come out swinging and whatever happens will happen,” Colts Manager James Clark said.” I think we got a good shot.”

Laramie went 2-1 against Impact in the regular season.

The winner of the game between Laramie and Impact will most likely be matched up against the Arvada Colts, the regular season conference champions, in the second game of the tournament set for 5 PM Friday.

“Obviously their offense is one of the better ones in the league so we are going to have to come out and play our game but I think it’s possible that we could beat them,” Clark said. “We could definitely stay in the game against them.”

Laramie lost all three matchups against Arvada in the regular season.

Should Laramie lose to Impact, they will face elimination against the loser of the Team Colorado-Arvada game at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

If Laramie can make it to the third round of the tournament, then their opponents will be drawn from a group of remaining teams they have not yet played.

The championship game will be played on Sunday and the winner will join the Arvada Colts at the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita.

“It’s been a fun summer, hopefully all the kids had fun and hopefully we do well in the tournament,” Clark said.
