The Laramie Lady Plainsmen volleyball team looks to continue its late-season surge at the state tournament Thursday through Saturday at the Casper Events Center.

Laramie (18-15) comes off a second-place finish at the regional tournament in Cheyenne last weekend. They lost in four sets to Cheyenne East for the regional title. That loss snapped a six-game win streak for LHS.

The Lady Plainsmen have a tough draw against the Star Valley Braves (33-5) in the first round at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Head coach Becky Baker spoke with KOWB’s David Settle about her team heading into the state tournament. They discussed lessons learned from the regional tournament, a tough matchup against the Braves, how their preparation has gone and some of their keys to having a successful state tournament in the video above.

The Lady Plainsmen were the Class 4A runner-up last season, as they lost to Kelly Walsh in the title match. LHS seeks only its second-ever state championship on the volleyball court. The lone title Laramie has won was back in 1994.
