Gillette will host two state qualifying meets on Friday and Saturday for indoor track teams and athletes from around the state.

These are part of the second round of trying to qualify for the state championships on Feb. 27 for the boys and March 6 for the girls.

The Campbell County Recreation Center will be the featured venue this week. With participation limited to 300 athletes, only select teams can attend the two meets. No fans are allowed at any of the regular-season meets.

Friday, Feb. 5:

WHSAA Indoor Track & Field Qualifying Meet Round Two Meet #3 Gillette: Field Events at 10:30 a.m.; Track Events at 10:30 a.m. – Big Horn, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Green River, Laramie, Western Heritage

Girls Team Scores: Cheyenne Central 196.50, Laramie 162.50, Cheyenne East 121.50, Cheyenne South 47.50, Green River 35, Big Horn 3

Central and Laramie won five events apiece. There were three athletes that won two events apiece. Central's Sydney Morrell won the 800 and 1600 meters. East's Taliah Morris captured the 55-meter dash and triple jump. Laramie's Libby Berryhill took first place in the 400 and 3200 meters.

Boys Team Scores: Cheyenne Central 178, Laramie 157, Cheyenne East 121, Cheyenne South 53, Big Horn 40, Green River 29, Western Heritage Lutheran 6

Central won six events, while three schools won three apiece. Central's Will Monger won the 55 and 200-meter dashes. Laramie's Aidan Morris won the 55-meter hurdles and the pole vault.

Saturday, Feb. 6:

Girls Team Scores: Sheridan 139.60, Cody 107.60, Torrington (Goshen County) 92, Buffalo 62, Pinedale, 53.20, Rawlins 37.60, Thunder Basin 18, Lovell 18

Pinedale's Isabella Romasko won the 55-meter dash, 55-meter hurdles, and triple jump. Jordan Stoddard from Torrington won the 200-meters and the high jump. Team-wise, Cody, Pinedale, and Torrington won four events apiece, while Rawlins and Sheridan won two.

Boys Team Scores: Sheridan 278, Lovell 73, Cody 59, Pinedale, 35, Rawlins 35, Torrington (Goshen County) 35

Sheridan's Carter McComb was the lone double-event winner, as he placed first in the 200-meters and long jump. The Broncs dominated with victories in 12 events. Pinedale won two, while Lovell and Torrington won one.
