
Wyoming High School Cross Country Week 5: Sept. 21-26, 2020
It’s time to start the second half of the season in high school cross country.
The week got started early, on Monday, in the Big Horn Basin. Then, it’s Casper and Worland hosting on Thursday. Laramie, Saratoga, and Sundance will have events on Friday. Finally, on Saturday, it’s Jackson’s turn to host.
This is where the schedule is taking teams:
Monday, Sept. 21:
Rocky Mountain Invite at Foster Gulch G.C. – Lovell, Powell, Rocky Mountain
Kabrie Cannon of Powell led the Panthers to the team crown with her individual race win.
Joey Hernandez from Powell won the boys' race and helped the Panthers win the team race.
Thursday, Sept. 24:
Glen Legler Invite at Paradise Valley G.C. in Casper – Big Horn, Douglas, Glenrock, Kelly Walsh, Natrona County, Sheridan, Torrington
Delilah Baedke of Natrona and Austin Akers from Sheridan won the individual 5K races. The NC girls and Sheridan boys won team titles.
Madison (ID) Quad in Rexburg, ID at Rexburg Municipal G.C. – Star Valley
Jacie Angell finished third, while Peter Visser won the boys' race. Star Valley took third place in the girls' team standings, while the boys were fourth.
Warrior Invite at Green Hills G.C. – Buffalo, Cody, Lander, Lovell, Powell, Riverton, Rocky Mountain, Thermopolis, Worland
Riley Smith of Cody wins the girls' race.
Kaleb Simonson of Lander captures the boys' race.
Friday, Sept. 25:
High Plains Showdown at Jacoby Ridge in Laramie – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Laramie
Laramie's Libby Berryhill won the girls' race by three seconds and led the Laramie girls to the team title. Cheyenne Central swept the boys' honors with Brayden Kivisto winning individually, and the Indians captured the team crown.
Shana Ward Memorial Invitational at Saratoga Inn & Resort G.C. – Burns/Pine Bluffs, Campbell County, Green River, Lyman, Manila (UT), Mountain View, Rawlins, Rock River, Rock Springs, Saratoga/Encampment, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Wheatland, Wind River
Elena Jensen from Lyman and Sam Kjerstad of Campbell County won the 5K races.
Sundance Invitational – Hulett, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Sundance, Wright
Mallory Jones from Moorcroft and Sundance's Hunter Skeens win the girls' and boys' races, respectively.
Saturday, Sept. 26:
Jackson Hole XC Invitational at Jackson Hole H.S./Lockhart Ranch:
Meet No. 1 – Evanston, Jackson, Pocatello (ID), Skyline (ID)
Jackson swept the team titles in race No. 1. Jackson's Ben Williams won the boys 5K.
Meet No. 2 – Rigby (ID), Rock Springs, Star Valley, Teton (ID)
Rigby, ID won the team crowns in race No. 2 Star Valley's Jacie Angell won the girls 5K.
