Now that we’re past the mid-point of the 2022 season, teams are starting to look towards the state competition, which is just about four weeks away.

It’s Week 5 of the prep cross-country season in Wyoming.

The week in Wyoming begins in Big Horn and Worland, plus Saratoga and Thermopolis are hosting, as well. Numerous schools will be competing out of state in Colorado, Idaho, South Dakota, and Utah.

Thursday, Sept. 22:

Bradford Brinton Duel at Big Horn, WY – Big Horn vs. Tongue River.

Warrior Invitational at Green Hills G.C. in Worland – Buffalo, Cody, Lander, Lovell, Powell, Riverton, Rocky Mountain/Burlington, St. Stephens, Thermopolis, Worland.

Cody swept the individual & team titles. Taylen Stinson won the girls' varsity race at a time of 19:29.31. Charlie Hulbert won the boys' varsity division at a time of 16:41.26.

Friday, Sept. 23:

Shana Ward Memorial at Saratoga Inn G.C. – Burns/Pine Bluffs, Cheyenne South, Ft. Washakie, Glenrock, Green River, Kelly Walsh, Laramie JV, Lyman, Mountain View, Rawlins, Rock River, Rock Springs, Saratoga/Encampment, Torrington, Wheatland, Wright + Manila, UT.

Caprice Winn of Mountain View ran 20:36.67 to win the girls' race. Alexander Louria of Kelly Walsh ran 16:55.48 to win the boys' race. The Green River girls and KW boys won the team titles.

Out-of-State Events:

Andy Meyers Invitational 2022 at Monfort Park in Greeley, CO – Cheyenne East + 15 Colorado teams.

East took 2nd in the girls' division and 4th in the boys. Emma Smith was 5th place. 

Dave Sanders Invitational at Clement Park XC Course in Littleton, CO – Cheyenne Central + 51 Colorado teams.

Central's Sydney Morrell was 3rd in the girls' race. Central's boys took 4th in the D1 division and the girls were 6th.

Platte Valley XC Invitational 2022 in Kersey, CO – Douglas + 11 Colorado teams.

Douglas won the girls' division and was 2nd in the boys. Jaden Meyer was 4th in the girls' race.

Rapid City Area Schools HS Invitational Cross Country Meet at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in Rapid City, SD – Campbell County, Hulett, Laramie, Newcastle, Sheridan, Thunder Basin + 25 South Dakota teams & 2 North Dakota teams.

The Laramie boys finished 2nd and the Sheridan girls were 2nd. Sheridan's Austin Akers was 5th and Dominic Eberle from Laramie was 8th in the boys' race. Addison Forry of Laramie was 11th and the top girls' finisher from Wyoming.

Saturday, Sept. 24:

Bobcat Invitational at Thermopolis G.C. – Natrona County JV, St. Stephens, Thermopolis, Wind River, Wyoming Indian.

Ruthanne Johnson of Thermopolis won on her home course. Natrona County won the girls' team crown. Maxton McCullough of NC won the boys' race and helped NC win the team title.

Out-of-State Events:

Bob Firman Invitational XC 2022 at Eagle Island State Park in Eagle, ID (Boise) – Cody, Jackson, Natrona County, Rawlins, Star Valley – attending from WY.

Jackson's Madison Antonino was 2nd in the Girls D1 Section 1 A-L. Ryann Smith of Rawlins was 13th in the Girls Elite Division.

In D1 Section 2 M-Z, Star Valley's Jase Burton was 15th. In Boys Elite Division, NC's Jackson Dutcher was 22nd.

Royal Run XC Invitational at Sand Ridge Park in Roy, UT – Evanston + 30 Utah teams.

In the boys' varsity 3-mile race, Derek Parks placed 21st for the Red Devils. Jasmine Tapia placed 32nd in the girls' race.
