The third week of the high school cross country season has a lot of teams heading to Ethete to preview the state meet course.

The Chief Nation Invitational is the big draw, but the Big Horn Equestrian Center and Riverton also will host in-state meets. Some teams are opting to head to Colorado, Nebraska, and South Dakota for running.

Thursday, Sept. 9:

Berry Bryant/Kyle Johnson Memorial Cross Country Meet at Riverton Rendezvous Site – Powell, Riverton

Kinley Cooley of Powell wins the girls' race. Caden Chatfield of Riverton won the boys' race.

Out-of-State Events:

Belle Fourche, SD HS XC Invite at Belle Fourche Country Club – Hulett, Moorcroft, Newcastle

Moorcroft's Mallory Jones finishes third, while Hulett's Ahnya Ivie-Moody captured fifth-place.

Newcastle placed third as a team and was led by Avery Chick, who also placed third.

Friday, Sept. 10:

Big Horn Equestrian Center Cross Country RaceCampbell County JV, Lovell, Rocky Mountain, Sundance, Thunder Basin JV, Wright

Jessica Michaels from Rocky Mountain won the girls' race. Brian McNiven made it a sweep for Rocky Mountain, as he won the boys division.

Out-of-State Events:

Kimball, NE XC Invite – Burns/Pine Bluffs, Cheyenne South, Torrington, Wheatland

Burns/Pine Bluffs runner Emma Gonzales won the girls' race by over 2 minutes. She led the Hornets to the team title. Ayden Loya of Torrington captured first-place in the boys' division. Cheyenne South took the boys' team crown. High School results begin on Page 3 of the link.

Saturday, Sept. 11:

Chief Nation Invitational (Wyoming Pre-State Meet) at Wyoming Indian HS in Ethete, WY – Big Horn, Buffalo, Campbell County, Cody, Douglas, Evanston, Glenrock, Green River, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Laramie, Lyman, Mountain View, Natrona County, Rawlins, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Star Valley, Thunder Basin, Wind River, Worland, Wyoming Indian

Jackson's Kate Brigham tops a field of over 100 runners and wins by over 15 seconds. Cody won the girls' team crown by 10 over Natrona County.

Mason Wheeler of Jackson makes it a sweep for the Broncs. He wins by 8 seconds in the boys' division, which had 136 runners. Sheridan won the team title by 12 over NC.

Out-of-State Events:

Liberty Bell Invitational at Heritage HS XC Course in Littleton, CO – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Saratoga

Sydney Morrell of Central took second in Division 2.

Mikaila Trujillo placed sixth in Division 2 for East.

Grant and Grady Bartlett finished second and third in Division 3.
