The WYOmericana Caravan featuring Jalan Crossland, Screen Door Porch and JShogren Shanghai’d, is coming to The Gryphon Theatre on the opening night of their tour on Wednesday, May 15.

The three Wyoming-based roots music artists are taking their concert circus of sorts on the road, and it’s the first time they have toured together as a package.

According to Tour Manager Ted Wagner, Jalan Crossland is a guitarist, banjoer and singer-songwriter. Crossland says he comes from "a small ranchin’, churchin’ and drinkin' town: Ten Sleep", Wyoming. On stage he is as comfortable as he would be pickin’ on his own front porch, and his relaxed demeanour pulls everyone onto that porch alongside him. Earlier this year he was honored to receive the Wyoming Governor’s Arts Award, which recognizes artists, arts organizations and patrons who have displayed excellence in the arts and outstanding service to the arts in Wyoming.

According to Tour Manager Ted Wagner, The Jackson-based quartet Screen Door Porch delivers a Wyoming-grown fusion of soulful Americana, Roots-Rock, and Country-Blues. The core female/male singer-songwriter combo of Seadar Rose & Aaron Davis thrive in a space that houses colorful harmonies, varied acoustic & electric instrumentation, and have “a sort of Lennon/McCartney arrangement and get it right every time” (Americana UK). Their two studio albums have been internationally recognized in six “Best Albums of the Year” lists and hovered in the Top 25 of the Euro-Americana Chart and Top 30 of the Roots Music Report Roots-Rock Chart.

Wagner goes on to say, Laramie’s JShogren Shanghai’d plays original hard acoustic music from lives lived in loud proportions. Their style of WYOmericana is a modern interpretation of traditional roots music which is a mix an amalgamation of blues, country/western, jazz, vaudeville, and polka. Shogren recently returned from representing Wyoming at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and his new album was named to House of Mercy Radio’s Top 50 Albums of 2012.

The show is on Saturday, May 15th at 8 p.m. with the doors opening at 7 p.m. The show is for all ages and tickets are $10.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the Gryphon Theatre Box Office or online.
