This newest edition of the WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media football rankings have changes in four of the five classifications.

There are four new teams to the poll this week, plus a new No. 1.

After a victory in the No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup last week, Thunder Basin is a unanimous choice for the top position in the Class 4A rankings this week. The Bolts earned all 16 first-place votes. Cheyenne East has moved to No. 2, which puts Sheridan third this week. The Natrona County Mustangs and Cheyenne Central Indians hold their spots at fourth and fifth, respectively.

In Class 3A, there’s only a slight change. The same five teams are in the poll with two swapping spots. Star Valley is still the only pick for No. 1. The Braves received all 17 first-place votes. Cody and Jackson hold onto the second and third spots. Douglas’ victory at Powell last Friday night pushes the Bearcats up to No. 4 and the Panthers drop a spot to fifth.

The new No. 1 ranked team this week is in Class 2A. The Mountain View Buffaloes take over thanks to one more vote for the top spot. The difference between Mountain View and Buffalo is three points in the balloting. After those two, six other teams received votes for the last three spots. Wheatland jumps back in at No. 3 after their victory at previous No. 5 Glenrock. Thermopolis is back in the rankings at fourth, while Lovell falls to fifth. Both Lyman and the aforementioned Herders fall out of the top five.

The only class without a change is 1A 11-man. It’s the same top five this week. Big Horn is first followed closely by Upton-Sundance. Cokeville remains third with Lusk and Rocky Mountain rounding out the top five.

Six teams are ranked in 6-man. Little Snake River continues its hold on No. 1. Defending champion Farson-Eden edges up to second by three points in the balloting, which means H.E.M. drops to No. 3. Riverside moves up a spot to fourth, while two new teams are in the rankings in a tie for fifth. They are Kaycee and Saratoga. Hulett just fell out of the poll.
