Start to Laramie Plainsmen Basketball Season is Delayed
The high school basketball season hasn’t officially tipped off for Laramie High School, but there are already changes to the boys’ schedule.
The Plainsmen basketball team had to quarantine due to COVID-19. That has impacted their schedule early in the season.
Laramie’s boys will not play at Natrona County on Thursday, Dec. 10, or at home against Green River on Friday, Dec. 11.
Laramie High School Athletic Director Ron Wagner told KOWB via email on Wednesday that the boys’ game at NC has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, in Casper. The home game versus Green River has been moved to Tuesday, Dec. 22, and will be in Laramie.
The two delays mean the Plainsmen will not make their 2020-21 season debut until a neutral site game in Green River against the Jackson Broncs on Friday, Dec. 18.
Even the Laramie High School website when going to team schedules says the following, “Please be aware that all Winter Schedules are VERY tentative and will most likely change early and often. Continue to check this web page as well as with your coaches for the most up to date information. Seasons may be canceled at any time due to county or state health concerns. Spectator allowance will also be a fluid situation.”
The Laramie girls are still slated to play at Natrona County on Dec. 10 and at home versus Green River on Dec. 11.
With COVID-19 protocols, this will likely not be the last adjustment to any winter sports schedule for LHS.
KOWB is proud to present Laramie High School basketball coverage throughout the 2020-21 season. David Settle returns for his 22nd season as the “Voice of LHS basketball.” Games will be available on the radio at AM 1290, anywhere with the KOWB app (free to download), and online at www.kowb1290.com. There will be a select number of games that will be a “streaming only” broadcast due to conflicts with University of Wyoming basketball coverage. Those games will be streamed through www.network1sports.com/station/kowbnet. If you have any questions about our broadcasts, please contact David Settle via email at david.settle@townsquaremedia.com.
