Larry Shyatt's time away from the game of basketball was a short-lived three months, as he was hired by the Dallas Mavericks Friday.

Shyatt will be an assistant coach on Rick Carlisle's staff, a job he turned down a year ago.

Shyatt's son, Jeremy, a current assistant with the University of Wyoming, revealed the news on Twitter earlier in the day.

Larry Shyatt led the Cowboys for six season, and in his second stint over the past five, led the Cowboys to their first Mountain West title in 2015. That resulted in Wyoming's first
NCAA Tournament appearance in 13 years. Three times in the past five season's, Shyatt's team's won 20 or more games.
