Traveling across Laramie can be difficult at times especially this summer with all the different construction areas around town. But it's those improvements that will make Laramie  more enjoyable, and improve the quality of one's drive across town. SafeRide also hopes to make Laramie a more enjoyable and safer place to drive. SafeRide, Laramie's staple in transportation assistance recently released a Memorandum of Understanding. For SafeRide, the new terms of understanding are a win across the board. The new terms are in conjunction with the parties involved with the SafeRide program for Fiscal Year 2012.

SafeRide started out as a University of Wyoming student service that has branched out rapidly and now offers their services to the city. The parties involved with the SafeRide Program include the University Of Wyoming Student Government, Wyoming Technical Institute, the Albany County Coalition to Prevent Substance Abuse and Laramie GM Auto Center.

According to new outlines, SafeRide responsibilities for the Associated Students of the University of Wyoming Student Government(ASUW) include day-to-day operations, hiring, training, supervising and the managing of all SafeRide employees. This year the ASUW  has also agreed to spend $132,552.40 from student fees to SafeRide. In recent years, it's a been the safest and smartest way for students to enjoy their night but also get home safely.

Wyoming Technical Institute's (WyoTech) new responsibilities include doing all non-preventative maintenance at cost and repair interior damage to the three ASUW-owned vans as well as provide the parts and materials for repairs.

the Albany County Coalition to Prevent Substance Abuse (CPSA) will be responsible for committing a minimum of $8,000 for SafeRide advertising and also assist ASUW with development of social marketing campaigns and other educational efforts.

Laramie GM Auto Center will provide free oil, lube and filter and tire rotation services for the three ASUW-owned vans.

SafeRide is a free program that provides safe transportation to UW and WyoTech students as well as the Laramie community. The program gives approximately 33,000 rides a month and is approaching 250,000 total rides this year. Call them for a ride at 307-766-7433
