Red Flag Fire Warning Issued For SE Wyoming For Thursday
The warning is in effect from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday. The warning means the fire danger is extremely high and all outside burning, as well as other activities that could start a fire, are strongly discouraged.
A combination of temperatures that are expected to reach the low to mid-90s and strong winds creates an unusually high fire danger for the area. The weather service has issued the following statement:
"We have expanded the Red Flag Warnings for much of southeastern Wyoming Thursday afternoon and evening. Gusty winds and low humidity will make conditions very favorable for fire weather. Please use caution when operating machinery or using open flames. Fires could spread rapidly due to dry fuels and strong winds."
