Laramie vs. Kelly Walsh football game is postponed to tomorrow (September 26)  at 2 pm and moved to Casper per LHS AD Ron Wagner.


 

Back at home for the first time in three weeks, the Laramie Plainsmen host the Kelly Walsh Trojans Friday night at Deti Stadium.

The game starts at 6 p.m. and has been deemed a “White Out.” They are asking Laramie fans to wear white shirts to the game.

Laramie (1-3) has been blown out in their last two road games. That includes a 56-13 loss at No. 4 Cheyenne East last Friday.

Plainsmen head coach Clint Reed talked with KOWB’s David Settle about where the team is at with its 1-3 record, explains the ‘White Out’ and what the team is doing with it and hoping you get involved, how their practice has gone and looking at this week’s opponent in the video above. Kelly Walsh (2-2) enters off a 35-14 loss to their rival Natrona County in the annual Oil Bowl.

The Plainsmen beat the Trojans last year, as the two met in the first game of the 2019 season in week 0, 24-17.

Laramie is led by senior running back Isaac Sell. He ranks first in Class 4A at 152.5 rushing yards per game and comes off a career-best 257 yard, two TD performance against Cheyenne East last week. Sell will face the No. 9 rush defense that allows 264 rushing yards per game.

Junior running back Cam Burkett, who is averaging 109.8 rushing yards per game and has 6 rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Trent Walker is averaging 169.8 passing yards per game.

The two teams are third (Laramie) and fourth (KW) in rushing offense. The difference is the Trojans average nearly 100 yards more per game through the air.

Neither team has put up great numbers on defense. Laramie is ninth in Class 4A and allows 447 yards and 42 points per game. Kelly Walsh is eighth at 386 yards a game but gives up only 26.8 points per contest.

The two schools have split their last 10 meetings in the series. Friday night marks the 45th game in the overall series. Laramie has a 24-20 lead.

Kick-off is at 6 p.m. from Deti Stadium in Laramie.
