The crash occurred at 7:47 p.m. yesterday one mile north of Cheyenne on the I-25 service road. Traveling northbound at an excessive rate of speed, the Ford Explorer drifted into the southbound lane. According to Wyoming Highway Patrol, Corina Higgins, age 19, of Cheyenne was driving and overcorrected to the right, the left and then right again. The correction caused the vehicle to roll over and vault off the right side of the roadway. After falling down a steep embankment and through a right-of-way fence, the vehicle came to rest upside down in a pasture.

In spite of wearing his seatbelt, passenger Robert Higgins, age 18, was partially ejected from the vehicle during the roll over and was declared dead at the scene. Corina was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Fire District #2 personnel. She was hospitalized at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
