The Laramie Police Department is looking for the owner of a dog that bit reportedly someone in LaBonte Park on Wednesday, August 20. According to the Laramie Police Department, the bite occurred around 1:00 p.m. on the east end of the park.

The dog is described as a medium-sized, white and black dog. It may be a Labrador and Border Collie mix. The owner of the dog is a teenager approximately 14 years old, approximately 5’6” tall with a thin build. His first name is “John” and he recently moved here from California. “John” may frequent the skate park in LaBonte Park. The victim of the bite is also a teenager.

If anyone has information about the whereabouts of the dog or the owner, please call the Animal Control Unit at 721-5385 or the non-emergency dispatch line at 721-2526.

The Laramie Police Department would like to remind people that even if a dog appears friendly, dogs that are normally good natured may be more defensive if they are tied up or on a leash.

The Animal Control Unit would like to add that animal bites can involve exposure to rabies, and all animal bites must be reported to the Animal Control Unit immediately. It is imperative that victims of animal bites try to identify the specific animal and get the owner’s contact information while they are still present.
