Operation Kidsafe is in Laramie this week to help families prepare for something that they will hopefully never have to do–search for a missing child.

“What they’re going to get with Operation Kidsafe is called a Lifetime BioDoc,” says Mark Bott, founder of Operation Kidsafe International.  “It’s actually going to have their child’s digital fingerprints, photo, an area where they can update it with a color photo as the child ages; and then on the back are safety tips for kids from [the age of] three on up to teenagers.”

Operation Kidsafe is at White’s University Motors Monday, Nov. 16 through Saturday, Nov. 21.  The quick, free, and private process will be available from 8 a.m.-6p.m. Mon.-Fri. and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.

“Most parents, when there’s a family emergency, they have no information prepared,” says Bott.  “It’s a form you probably won’t use–we’re hoping you won’t use–but if you’ve been selected to use it, you’ll be glad you have it.”

Bott says that Operation Kidsafe has been around for 14 years and has safeguarded over 1 million children in North America.

“We don’t take any information; we just do this on-site for the parents,” says Bott.  “The parents walk away with the only record of the visit.  They then take it home; they keep it accessible twenty-four hours a day.  If they had a family emergency, they would hand this bio-document to law enforcement.”

“Our program’s always free and private,” says Bott.  Believe it or not, it takes sixty seconds or less.  You don’t have to do anything–test drive a car–there’s nothing tied to it.  White’s University Motors gets it.  They’re giving back to a community that’s made them successful.”
