POWELL, Wyo. (AP) — Federal authorities say they are no closer to catching a former CEO charged with stealing nearly $848,000 from a Wyoming hospital he ran.

Paul Cardwell, former CEO of Powell Valley Healthcare, is accused of embezzling the money from the hospital in 2011. He disappeared in late August, just before he was expected to accept a plea deal on federal charges.

John Powell, a spokesman for federal prosecutors in Cheyenne, tells The Associated Press that Cardwell is still being sought, but investigators don't have any leads on his whereabouts.

Cardwell had surrendered his passport and was barred from getting another one after being released on a $50,000 unsecured bond in March. Authorities say that in June, he tried to get a passport using his birth name, Paul D. Sappington, but didn't receive one.
