Four Laramie High School sports teams will be back in competition around the state this weekend.

Only boys’ swimming and alpine skiing were in action last weekend.

The Plainsmen swimming and diving team went 6-0 in duals at home last Friday and Saturday.

Laramie won five events in a sweep of Green River, Rock Springs, and Sheridan. They beat the Wolves 102-84, the Tigers 134-46, and the Broncs 128-55. Mace Spiker-Miller took first place in the individual medley and butterfly races.

Last Saturday, LHS won only four events with no double-event winners, but they still finished the day 3-0. The Plainsmen held off Kelly Walsh 94-92. They rolled past Campbell County 144-20 and Thunder Basin 135-42.

Laramie finished the regular season with a dual record of 24-0-1.

The Plainsmen host the 4A West-Central Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday. Prelims will be at 3 p.m. on Friday. All the event finals are on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Laramie Alpine Skiing

The Laramie High School boys’ team took third and the girls placed fourth at the Cody Invite on Casper Mountain.

The event was moved from Red Lodge, MT due to a lack of snow.

In the giant slalom, Isabelle Spivey had the best finish in 10th place. McCrea Doyle was eighth in the slalom. Ashton Ford led the Plainsmen with sixth-place finishes on both days of racing.

The downhill skiers are off this weekend.

Laramie Indoor Track

Laramie plays the host role for the seventh state qualifying meet of the season in Gillette.

LHS will compete at the Campbell County Recreation Center on Friday against Big Horn, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Green River, and Western Heritage Lutheran Academy.

All the action starts at 10 a.m. on Friday.

This is the second of three chances for athletes to try to get a top-eight time on the track or a top-nine mark in a field event to qualify for this season’s state championships.

Laramie Nordic Skiing

The LHS Nordic Skiing teams will take part in the Lander Invite on Friday and Saturday at the Beaver Creek Nordic Trails southwest of Lander.

Friday is a 5 km classic race. Saturday will be a 7.5 km skate or freestyle race.

Laramie did not have a high school competition last weekend.

Laramie Wrestling

Thanks to closed roads, Thursday’s match at H.E.M./Saratoga in Hanna was canceled.

The Plainsmen return to the mat on Saturday with two tough opponents. Laramie heads to South High School in Cheyenne to wrestle Sheridan and 3A Worland.

LHS is 14-11 in duals this season.
