Wednesday's basketball doubleheader at Laramie High School between the Laramie Sophomore teams and Rock River is about more than just basketball. It's a chance for you to help out others who are less fortunate, enjoy some basketball and several other aspects of the only home contest for either LHS basketball team before the new year.

The Laramie Boys Basketball Booster Club is utilizing the games as a holiday food drive with all the items donated going to Interfaith/Good Samaritan in Laramie. Bring any 2 canned food items and receive free admission to the doubleheader. You can also donate money, and all the proceeds and food collected stays in Laramie.

In addition, there will be several games and activities going on at timeouts, between quarters and at halftime of the games where you can win prizes from local sponsors. Several performances will come from the State Champion LHS Cheer squad, the Plainsmen Singers and the LHS Band will be there, along with a drum line performance.

As for the basketball game, it will be the first meeting between the Laramie Sophomores and Rock River this season. The Lady Longhorns are 5-0 on the season, their best start in quite a while. As for the Longhorns, they sport a 1-4 record.

The girls game will start at 4 pm, followed by the boys game at 5:30 pm. KOWB is providing coverage of both games. Join David Settle and VerDon Hoopes, as they call the action from LHS.
