The Laramie Lady Plainsmen were swept at home by the Cheyenne East volleyball team, 25-19, 25-19, 25-15, on Tuesday night.

"We definitely had higher expectations for tonight and that was not the performance I was looking for," said LHS Head Coach Trisha Witkop. "We weren't taking advantage of our strengths and not putting the ball where we needed it to be and it was definitely frustrating for the girls and for me."

Laramie had a 16-15 lead in the first set until East senior Sally Sanders served eight straight to put her team up 23-16 and then take set one 25-19. The second set was a similar story with the Lady Plainsmen battling the Lady T-Birds for most of the set before serving runs in the middle of the set gave East an advantage Laramie could not overcome. In the third set, it was a serving run from Kaylie Mossie that moved East from a 12-11 lead to a 17-11 advantage. LHS then missed two serves late in the set which allowed East to close out the match.

"We had a lot of missed serves," commented Witkop after the match. "Just not really aggressive play on our serving and that's something we're going to look to fix in practice."

Madison Legerski led Laramie with 9 kills and 13 digs followed by Emily Pearson with 7 kills and 16 digs. Lily Gabriel had 6 kills and Jamie Rhodine put up 19 assists. Laramie is now 1-4 after the first half of 4A East conference play and 9-8 overall. The Lady Plainsmen head to the Casper Invite this weekend. They will face Hulett, Green River and Sheridan on Friday. Saturday will be bracket play.
