Max Alexander’s RBI-single in the seventh inning propelled the Laramie Majors All-Stars past Lander 3-2 at the Wyoming Little League State Tournament.

Friday’s victory puts Laramie in the state championship game Saturday at 10 a.m. versus Gillette in Torrington. The Majors squad has to beat Gillette twice to win the state title.

Laramie took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on Grant Vigen’s RBI-double. Lander answered right back and took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the frame. A two-run double with two outs pushed Lander in front. Brayden McKinney’s infield RBI-single with two outs in the fifth tied the game for Laramie.

With two outs in the seventh, Carson Moniz drew a walk. TR Richardson followed with a single, which set the stage for Alexander’s game-winning hit to right field, which scored Moniz from second base.

Lander didn’t go quietly. In the bottom of the seventh, a single, stolen base, and an error put a runner at third. After the next batter was hit by a pitch and moved to second base, Lander had two on with just one out. Landon Lotzer got a strikeout and a ground out with runners at second and third to end the game.

Laramie had 11 hits compared to Lander’s two but left 14 runners on base. Alexander had three hits, while Vigen added two. Lotzer got the win in relief.

This was the Majors All-Stars’ second extra-inning victory of the state tournament.

Laramie takes on Gillette at 10 a.m. Saturday. If they win the first game, a second championship game would be at 1 p.m.

Also, the Defending State Champion Laramie Minors All-Stars will try for their second straight state title, as they play Cody at 10 a.m. Saturday.
