Wins in the pool, on the basketball court, and on the wrestling mat highlighted Laramie High School’s action over the last week.

This is a recap of last weekend and a glimpse ahead to the action this weekend for LHS student-athletes.

Laramie Swimming & Diving

The Plainsmen remained undefeated on the season with four dual meet victories and a first-place effort at the Cheyenne Invite.

Last Friday at home, LHS beat Kelly Walsh, 102-66. The Plainsmen won 11 of the 12 events in the dual meet. Last Saturday, Laramie finished first in the nine-team Cheyenne Invite at East High School. The Plainsmen scored 462.50 team points, which was 78.5 ahead of runner-up Cheyenne Central. Laramie won three events. Ronan Robinson captured first place in diving. LHS also won the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

On Tuesday, Laramie took part in a Southeast Quad with the three high schools from Cheyenne at East High School. The Plainsmen swept all three duals. They beat South 96-44, East 106-62, and Central 92-85.

LHS heads to the Gillette Duals on Friday and Saturday.

Laramie Basketball

The third-ranked Laramie girls stayed perfect on the season with a pair of home wins last weekend.

LHS beat 3A Rawlins, 65-39, last Friday night, and topped Rock Springs, 62-33, last Saturday.

They have a tough weekend ahead to start 4A Southeast Conference Quadrant action.

Laramie (12-0) is at No. 2 Cheyenne East in a game postponed from Wednesday to Thursday at 6 p.m. They host No. 5 Cheyenne Central on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Plainsmen split their two games last weekend. They earned a victory over 3A Rawlins, 66-34, but lost last Saturday to Rock Springs, 69-53.

Laramie (8-4) is at No. 1 Cheyenne East tonight at 7:30 p.m. They host No. 2 Cheyenne Central on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

There is no radio coverage from KOWB of tonight’s doubleheader at Cheyenne East. KOWB will be broadcasting Friday’s games versus Cheyenne Central.

Laramie Wrestling

The Plainsmen finished in seventh place in the Gold Bracket at the Thoman-Jackman dual tournament in Green River last weekend.

Laramie was second in Pool A last Friday. They beat Mountain View, Cokeville, and Buffalo, but lost to Green River in the pool. They still put them in the Gold Bracket last Saturday. They fell to Evanston and Salem Hills, UT, but bounced back with a 40-38 victory over Rawlins for seventh place.

LHS will host Cheyenne Central on Thursday at 6 p.m. Then, they go to the Lander Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Laramie Nordic Skiing

Laramie was at the Lander Invitational last weekend on the Beaver Creek trails. Both teams finished in fourth place in the team standings.

Individually, Laura Brande and Flynn Arnold recorded top-ten finishes in both the freestyle and classic races.

LHS also had skiers that raced in the USSA NRL JNQ age division races.

They do not have a high school competition this weekend.

Laramie Indoor Track

Laramie opened the 2023 indoor track season at the Natrona Invitational. No results have been released from that track meet.

LHS heads to the Campbell County Invitational in Gillette on Saturday.

Laramie Alpine Skiing

After having last weekend off, Laramie is back on the slopes this weekend. They are on Casper Mountain for the KWHS Bruce Studer Memorial Invitational at Hogadon Basin Ski Area.

The GS race is Thursday followed by the slalom race on Friday.
