Lady Plainsmen Soccer Faces a Must Win Situation
The single biggest day of the high school soccer season is here for the defending state champion Laramie Lady Plainsmen.
Third-ranked Laramie faces elimination from the post-season with a ‘loser-out’ match at the 4A East Regional Soccer Championships in Cheyenne Thursday. The Lady Plainsmen will play the host Cheyenne South Bison at 4 p.m.
Laramie (10-3) has been South in the two regular season meetings by a combined score of 18-0.
Lady Plainsmen head coach Kim Whisenant has focused her team on their first match.
“We’re not looking past Thursday. That’s our biggest hill to climb right now. And just getting back to who we are. I think we’re losing a little bit of sight of what we’re all about, and what it takes to win games. We’ve had a good week of training… just to get us on the right track again.”
Laramie will be without All-State keeper Morgan Bury. The senior was injured last Friday in the regular season finale and will not play this weekend.
The winner of this match will face No. 2 seed Cheyenne East Friday at 1 p.m.
