James Threw propelled the Laramie Colts to a dominant 18-5 win over Triple Crown on Thursday night at Cowboy Field. Threw went 4-for-5 while scoring 4 runs and driving in 5 on 2 singles, a triple and a home run.

The Colts took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Threw drove in Mickey Phelps then scored on Hayden Chick sacrifice. The lead was built to 4-0 in the third after Threw singled then scored on a single from Chick, who later scored on a sacrifice from Tyler Creek.

Triple Crown was able to plate two runs in the top of the fourth inning, but any hopes of a comeback were quickly quelled by a 2-run homer from Threw in the bottom of the inning.

From that 6-2 lead, the Colts would take advantage of 7 walks and 2 hit batters through the rest of the night, which was highlighted by a 2-run triple from Threw in the fifth and a 3-run homer from Adam Miller in the seventh.

Brandon Wyrick picked up the win for the Colts in 5 innings. Wyrick got 3 strikeouts while allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, and issuing 1 walk. Parker Sheets appeared in relief and allowed 3 hits and 1 run in 2 innings. Alex Zeig closed the game for the Colts in 2 innings in which he allowed 3 hits, 2 earned runs and walked 2 batters.

Matt Loseke started the night for Triple Crown and tallied 6 strikeouts but hit 3 batters and walked one while allowing 8 hits, 6 runs, 5 of them earned in 3 2/3 innings. Triple Crown went through four other pitchers after Loseke.

The Colts (14-12) are currently third in the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League standings. Ft. Collins (17-11) now leads the league after beating Cheyenne (17-12) on Thursday in Ft. Collins. The Colts will play twice on Saturday, first at Triple Crown then at Cheyenne.
