Laramie Police are seeking information after AAA Recycling and Salvage was vandalized last week, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Assistant Chief Jeff Bury with the Laramie Police Department says damage was caused at the business sometime between 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22 and noon on Friday, July 24th.

Chip Aanenson from AAA Recycling says over 150 windows and taillights were broken out of vehicles at the business. Additionally, many vehicles were spray painted. He says it appears that the perpetrators cut through the fence to enter the area.

Aanenson says a baseball bat was found on scene along with several rocks, and footprints indicate that the vandals were on the vehicles breaking and kicking windows as they went. He estimates there is between $25,000 and $30,000 worth of damage.

Unfortunately this is not the only case of vandalism AAA recycling has seen. Aanenson says in the last eight years there has been approximately $85,000 worth of known damage at the business as a result of similar crimes. He says this is only one example of an ongoing problem at many salvage yards in the area.

Assistant Chief Bury says the graffiti spray painted at the scene resembles an upside down “T” with a 307 next to it.

Bury says there are currently no suspects in the crime.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of this crime. In addition, AAA Recycling is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandals.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 742-CARE (742-2273). Information can also be provided by calling the Laramie Police non-emergency line at 721-2526.
