Laramie Plainsmen Go For Two Straight in Rock Springs [VIDEO]
The Laramie Plainsmen are back on the road for the third time in four games to start the 2024 season. They play in Rock Springs on Friday night against the Tigers. Both teams are 1-2 on the season. Laramie enters off their first win over Central last week, 10-3. Rock Springs lost their second straight last Friday at Campbell County, 35-3.
Laramie head coach Jake Chick previews the game with KOWB’s David Settle. Coach Chick discussed last week's win and trying to capitalize on that momentum, the focus in practice, and a little scouting report on the Tigers.
Laramie has an edge in passing yards (128-55), but Rock Springs has the edge on the ground (174-26). Defensively, the Plainsmen are coming off their best performance and allowed only 38 yards rushing last week after giving up over 200 in each of the first two games this season. They allow 308 yards and 24.7 points per game. The Tigers are giving up only 263 yards and 26.3 points per game.
Will Brinegar ranks No. 1 in Class 4A in defensive points per game at 18.3. Andre Hilton of Rock Springs is second at 18 defensive points per game.
Fisher Frude of Laramie keys the offense and averages 148.7 all-purpose yards per game. That ranks third in Class 4A. The Tigers counter with Boston James, who is No. 10 in all-purpose yards per game at 94.
It will be the 91st meeting on the football field between the two teams. Laramie leads the all-time series, 48-42. The kick-off is at 6 p.m. in Rock Springs. KOWB Radio (AM 1290) will air the game live. The broadcast starts at 5 p.m. David Settle and VerDon Hoopes will be on the broadcast call.
