With high school soccer entering its postseason, the final WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Soccer Polls were released on Wednesday.
There are three new teams in the top five of the rankings and a tie for first in Class 4A boys.
Thunder Basin and Kelly Walsh are tied atop the 4A boys’ poll. The Bolts received more first-place votes, six-to-four, but the Trojans had more second-place votes that pushed them into the tie. Jackson and Sheridan hold steady at three and four. Laramie is back into the rankings at No. 5 after their 5-0 win last week over Cheyenne Central. That pushed the Indians out of the top five.
In 4A girls, Thunder Basin goes wire-to-wire as the top-ranked team. The Bolts earned 11 of the 14 first-place votes in the final poll. Rock Springs received the other three, and the Tigers remain second. Cheyenne Central holds in the No. 3 spot, just ahead of Jackson. The Broncs climb to fourth, which pushes Sheridan down one spot to fifth.
4A Regional Soccer tournaments are in Evanston and Gillette starting on Thursday.
The top four are the same in 3A boys. Worland and Powell remain firmly in first and second. Lander holds onto No. 3, but by only three points in the balloting over Douglas. Torrington makes their debut in the soccer poll at No. 5. The Cody Broncs dropped out of the top five.
