Wyoming's malt beverage tax may be seeing an increase of 26 cents. The states tax per gallon on beer has been set at 2 cents since 1935. The Fremont County Commission has endorsed a proposal to raise Wyoming's malt beverage tax.

Last week the commission showed support in hiking up the tax to 28 cents per gallon. Those in support of raising the tax hope the extra revenue will be dedicated to alcohol abuse treatment programs across the state.

The proposed resolution will be presented at the 2011 Wyoming Association of Municipalities Annual Convention this June. The convention will take place in Sheridan Wyoming.
