The Wyoming Cowboys won their fifth straight dual on the mat with a 29-9 victory over Air Force last Saturday night.

The Pokes won seven of the ten matches, which included a pair of bonus point wins. It also marked the ninth straight victory over Air Force.

Junior Bryce Meredith won by tech fall at 141 pounds. The No. 8 ranked wrestler posted a 19-3 win. The other extra point victory was a pin from Branson Ashworth at 165. He won in 49 seconds for his seventh victory by fall this season.

Other wins came from Drew Templeman (125), Archie Colgan (157), Kyle Pope (174), Lucas Lovvorn (184) and Brandon Tribble (285), who won by injury default.

In a release from UW, Cowboys head coach Mark Branch said he saw some positive things after the win.

"It was a good dual to learn from, which is nice this late in the season. These wins make the environment a little better to come back to and train, but we are looking at the bigger picture."

Wyoming is now 6-5 on the season and 3-1 in the Big 12 Conference.

It’s a busy week for the Cowboys. They wrestle at Northern Colorado Wednesday in Greeley at 7 p.m. Then, it’s off to the Sooner State for duals against No. 15 Oklahoma and No. 1 Oklahoma State Friday. UW returns home next Sunday for a dual versus No. 23 North Dakota State. The home finale starts at 2 p.m.

Wyoming Indoor Track

The Cowboys and Cowgirls swept the long and triple jumps at the Colorado Open last weekend in Boulder, CO.

Scott Carter won the triple jump by two feet with a mark of 50 feet-2 inches. It was his fourth victory in the event this indoor season. Day Timberman completed the sweep with a victory for the Cowgirls. Her leap was 38 feet-10.5 inches. That was her second straight win.

In the long jump, Ja’la Henderson captured the women’s side with a leap of 20 feet-0.5 inches. It was her first time clearing 20 feet. Caleb Seeton won the men’s long jump at 22 feet-5.75 inches.

Jerayah Davis won the women’s 60 meters. She crossed the tape in 7.37 seconds.

The final victory last weekend was at the Washington State Cougar Invite in Pullman, WA. Emelda Malm-Annan won the women’s weight throw. Her toss was 58 feet-10 inches.

Wyoming indoor track returns to action at the Don Kirby Invite in Albuquerque, NM next weekend.

Cowgirl Tennis

The Wyoming Cowgirls went 2-1 in a road trip to Lincoln, NE last weekend.

Wyoming open with a 7-0 victory over Creighton last Friday. They won all three doubles matches and swept the singles.

Saturday was the only loss for the Cowgirls on the weekend, as they fell 6-1 to Nebraska. The lone victory was at number three singles by Tessa van Der Ploeg by a 6-1, 6-2 score.

The weekend finale on Sunday was 7-0 win over North Dakota. It featured the second sweep of the weekend between the doubles and single matches.

The Cowgirls are now 4-2 during the spring season. They host their first spring match Saturday against Montana State at the UW Indoor Tennis Complex. Match time is 1 p.m.
