Body Recovered From Flaming Gorge Reservoir
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — Sheriff’s officials say a recovery team has retrieved what is believed to be the remains of a man who drowned in the Flaming Gorge Reservoir 15 years ago.
Forty-three-year-old Richard D. Herren of Green River fell out of a boat while fishing with his wife and a family friend on May 4, 1997. Rough conditions kept searchers from finding him.
But this past April, a team using sonar and cadaver dogs found a body at a depth of 130 feet.
On Tuesday, a recovery team retrieved the body.
The Sweetwater County coroner says a routine autopsy is scheduled Wednesday in Loveland, Colo.
