With such a variety of fun things to do downtown tomorrow, don’t overlook the opportunity to see the classic tractors on display in front of the Music Box at 2nd and Grand starting at 11:00am.

Dale and Lynn Hyatt collect and restore antique tractors and will be showing a 1948 Allis Chalmers Model T, a 1963 Minneapolis Moline Jetstar 2 and a 1948 Empire. The Empire has an interesting addendum to its old timey charm and good looks; it was factory built from Army surplus jeep parts! Even though the tractors are notable for their age and rarity, they aren’t just for show. Many collectors work plow days and take their tractors out to do what they were built for.

Seeing the old tractors and getting to speak with individuals who know how to use and restore them takes passersby back to fond memories. Dale and Lynn hear many stories about farm equipment that begin with “My Grandpa had a . . .” For the folks who generously put their collections on display, the highlight of the day is speaking with people and having a chance to share information and inspire interest in the restoration of beautiful antique tractors.
