The 1A East Regional Track Meet took place in Torrington over the weekend with the top 8 in each event and the top 4 relays qualifying for the big state meet that will start in Casper on Thursday.

In the sprint events for the boys, Ryan Clapper from Southeast won both the 100 and 200-meter dashes with times of 11.53 and 22.70 respectively. Kyland Fuller ran a blistering 50.69 to win the 400-meter dash. In the hurdle events, Kaycee freshman Vaughn Pierson won the 110 in 19.19 with his teammate Dylan Fauber capturing the 300 in 44.86. Over in the distance races, Kyland Fuller of Lingle chalked up another win by taking the 800 in 2.03.44. His team, Myles Wilson ran 5.02.13 to win the 1600 meters and ran 11.01.31 to capture the 3200-meter run. Southeast won the 4x100 relay, Lingle took the 4x400 and the 1600 medley while  Kaycee took the 4x800.

In the field events for the 1A East boys, Justin Malcom from Guernsey went 5-11 to win the high jump, Cooper Hill from Lingle won the long jump with a leap of 21-1 with Luca Brooks of Upton going 40-6 to take the triple jump. The pole vault champion was Upton's Brayden Bruce who cleared 13 feet 1 inch. In the throwing events, Nathan Baker of Upton finished first in the shot put with a toss of 41-8. Bryce Ackerman of Hulett won the discus going 135-6. In the boy's team standings, Lingle-Fort Laramie was first with 154 points, Upton 2nd with 151, and Kaycee 3rd with 93.

In the girl's speed races, Jordan Stoddard is one of the finest athletes in the state. the junior won the 100 in 12.80 and the 200 in 26.66. Stoddard also won the high jump at 5-6 and the long jump at 18-5 so she had quite a meet. The 400-meter dash winner was Karcee Maya of Kaycee in 1.02.11. In the hurdles, Tinley Pierson of Kaycee captured the 100 in 17.66 with her teammate Karcee Maya winning the 300 in 49.49. In the relays, Southeast placed first in the 4x100, HEM won the 4x400 and the 4x800 with Lingle taking the 1600 sprint medley.

In the girl's long races, Hulett freshman Ahnya Ivie-Moody won 2 events, the 800 in 2.33.02 and the 1600 meters in 5.39.86. Lingle freshman Natalie Speckner ran 12.40.33 to win the 3200. In the rest of the field events, Tinley Pierson was on top of the podium again as she cleared 9 feet even to win the pole vault. Taylar Scott of HEM went 34-9.5 to take the triple jump with her teammate Amy Campbell winning the discus with a throw of 105 feet. Shelby Ekwall of Southeast captured the shot put with a toss of 34-6.

In the girl's team standings for the 1A East, Kaycee finished first with 150 points, Lingle 2nd with 136, and Southeast 3rd with 120. Take a look at some of the highlights from this meet in Torrington. Enjoy!
