Wyoming forward Chaundra Sewell earned Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors for games played from December 24-30, 2012. It is her second MW weekly accolade of the season and of her career.

Sewell, a senior from Broomfield, Colo., led Wyoming to an 84-68 victory over Loyola Marymount in its only game last week. Sewell tallied career-bests of 34 points and 17 rebounds, nearly recording a double-double in the first half with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Sewell scored eight of the Cowgirls’ first 15 points in the game and pulled down six rebounds in the first eight minutes of play to give Wyoming a 15-13 advantage. In the second half with a 60-57 Wyoming lead, Sewell scored seven of the Cowgirls’ next 10 points to build a 13-point cushion, 70-57.

For the game, Sewell shot 11-of-19 (.579) from the field and was a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line. She also recorded an assist and a steal against the Lions.

It was the second consecutive week a Cowgirl earned the honor. Sophomore Kayla Woodward was the MW Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games December 17-23, 2012.
