The Mountain West announced its men’s and women’s conference basketball schedule for the 2016-17 season Tuesday.

The Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls will open league play against Air Force in late December 2016. The men will host the Falcons on Wednesday, December 28 in the Arena-Auditorium. The Cowgirls are on the road against Air Force on Thursday, December 29 at Clune Arena.

Both teams play the typical nine home and nine road games during MW action. They’ll play home and home series with eight opponents, but will face Nevada and San Diego State only once. The Cowboys get the Wolfpack in Laramie and travel to South California to face the Aztecs. The Cowgirls slate is reversed, so they will play in Reno, NV, but host San Diego State in Laramie.

Both games against rival Colorado State, in the Border War, will be played in the final three weeks of the season. The first go-round is Wednesday, February 15 with the men at home and women on the road. It’s flipped when UW faces CSU on March 1 in Fort Collins. The women’s game will be in Laramie on Tuesday, February 28.

The regular season will end on Friday, March 3 for the women’s teams in the MW and Saturday, March 4 for the men’s squad’s. UW faces San Jose State. The Cowgirls are in California, while the Pokes host the Spartans.

University of Wyoming men’s coach Allen Edwards said in a release from UW,

“The best part of our conference is how competitive it is. Every night a challenge is presented in this league, and it will always be a competitive battle.”

The Mountain West Tournament will take place in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center March 6-11, 2017.

Game times and TV coverage will be announced at a later time.
