There’s a new top-ranked team in Class 4A in the newest WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Girls Basketball Poll.

Thunder Basin has regained the No. 1 position in the girls’ big-school division. Meanwhile, Douglas, Wyoming Indian, and Cokeville remain in the top spot of their classification, and all three are unanimous selections.

In Class 4A, the Bolts are back on top for the first time since the second rankings in mid-December. Thunder Basin received 21 of 26 first-place votes. The Bolts swept Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East last week to jump up two spots in this week’s poll. The Indians fall to second but did earn five first-place votes. The Thunderbirds drop to third. Green River holds steady at No. 4. The Wolves garnered all but four votes for that position. There’s a new team ranked fifth this week in the Kelly Walsh Trojans. They return to the poll for the first time since the second rankings in mid-December, as well, when Kelly Walsh was rated third at that time. Four other teams earned votes in this week’s balloting. On the schedule, there are no games between ranked teams this weekend. Three teams, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, and Kelly Walsh have road games on Friday night.

The Bearcats received all 21 first-place votes. They lead a Class 3A poll that features no changes. Worland, Lander, Mountain View, and Lyman all hold their positions in two through five. That occurs despite the Eagles beating the Buffaloes at Mountain View last week. This class also has no ranked teams playing each other this weekend. A couple, Douglas and Lander, have a road game and then a home game.

In 2A, the Chiefs got all 11 first-place tallies. The next three teams remain in their spot with Rocky Mountain second, Pine Bluffs third, and Moorcroft is fourth. The Lusk Tigers have joined the top five for the first time this season. They are the new fifth-ranked team, which pushes the Southeast Cyclones out of the poll. As for match-ups on the schedule this weekend, the big one has the third-ranked Hornets testing the No. 5 Tigers in Lusk on Friday night.

The Cokeville Panthers garnered all 10 first-place votes in the Class 1A poll. Despite losses by teams and a wide variety in the balloting, the rest of the rankings remain the same from last week. Upton holds at No. 2. Saratoga stays put in third, followed by H.E.M. in fourth, and Kaycee rounds out the top five. Three other teams received votes this week. There are no games between ranked opponents in Class 1A on the schedule.
