Wyoming’s Raca is Playing in European Small Country Championships
Wyoming Cowgirl senior forward Tijana Raca is getting an opportunity to gain some international experience this week in Europe.
Raca, who will be a senior next season at UW, is playing for her home country of Cyprus in the FIBA Women’s European Championship for Small Countries. This year’s event runs June 26-July 1 in Cork, Ireland.
Cyprus is one of eight teams in the competition. They are part of Group B with Ireland, Luxembourg, and Norway. Cyprus will play Luxembourg Tuesday, Norway on June 27 and Ireland on June 28.
Denmark, Gibraltar, Malta and Moldova comprise Group A.
The top two teams in each group will move on to bracket play Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1.
Raca has played in 37 games during her Cowgirl career. She has averaged nearly one point and one rebound per game.
In their opening game, Cyprus lost to Luxembourg 71-49. Raca had four points and tied for the team-high with six rebounds.
