Wyoming Writers Inc. Conference Comes to UW
Award-winning authors will present workshops in fiction, poetry, short stories, children’s fiction and nonfiction during the Wyoming Writers Inc. annual conference June 7-9 at the University of Wyoming Conference Center at Laramie’s Hilton Garden Inn.
According to the University, the event will begin at 2:15 p.m. Friday, June 7th, with round table discussions and pitch sessions. Best Selling Novelist and Award Winning Children's author Margaret Coel and Eugene Gagliano respectively will be involved in the conference. Aaron Graham, Conference Chairman says "Coel will provide a lecture on publishing in contemporary markets and fielding questions about publishing from new authors and audience members." Other participants include essayist Rick Kempa, short story writer Michael Shay, and historian-nonfiction author Tom Rea. Graham says "Kempa will offer a lecture on how to write essays for publishing such as popular newspapers like the New York Times."
Graham says this event "provides an invaluable opportunity for writers who are from Wyoming or other writing about Wyoming to come together to have a network session with established writers." Graham added, "this conference will help develop writing for the new technological era where you can get your foot in the door and market yourself online."
The University says there will be workshops at the conference with Agent Katharine Sands from the Sarah Jane Freymann Literary Agency in New York and Sandra Bond of the Bond Literary Agency in Denver both on hand. The release goes onto say Sands and Bond will both have presentations of their own along with Wildlife Journalist Chris Madson presenting on June 7th.
The University states that lodging at the conference hotel is available for $105 per night. Registration is first-come, first-served. Registration costs $185 for members and $215 for nonmembers. Registration includes Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, Sunday breakfast, all breaks, workshops and conference events.
The release goes onto say registration for Saturday only costs $150. Meal tickets for guests not registered for the conference, such as spouses or children, must be purchased separately by June 3, or a 30 percent surcharge will be added for each meal.
