Wyoming Senate Approves ‘Beer Freedom Act Of 2019′

Breweries across the Cowboy State are raising a toast to the Wyoming Legislature. Senators approved the third and final reading of the "Beer Freedom Act Of 2019" today by a vote of 29-1, paving the way for the bill to become law with Governor Mark Gordon's signature.

The bi-partisan bill revises licensing and regulation for local microbreweries and wineries. Under the statute, businesses will be able to apply for 24-hour permits to serve malt liquor, beer, and wine at events. The Beer Freedom Act will also relax the permit process for distributors and allow for direct shipments of beer and wine from retailers to customers.

The bill was co-sponsored by three Republican Representatives, Eric Barlow, Tyler Lindholm, and Eric Pownall, and four Democrats, Representatives Stan Blake, Sara Burlingame, and Charles Pelkey, and Democratic Senate Minority Whip Chris Rothfuss.

Governor Gordon is expected to sign the bill, which will go into effect on July 1st.
