The honors keep coming for Alijah Halliburton. After being the named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Wyoming's safety was selected as the Bronco Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week by the Football Writers Association of America

Halliburton recorded 17 tackles during Wyoming's upset victory over Missouri and returned a fumble for 84 yards to set up a field goal late in the second quarter. One of Halliburton's 17 tackles was for a loss and seven of his tackles held Missouri runners under five yards.

The 6'2 senior from Aurora, Colo. ranked fourth on the team as a junior, recording 61 tackles last season. Saturday's 17-tackle performance versus broke his previous career record of 11 tackles, set last season against Boise State.

With the departure of All-Mountain West Conference safeties Marcus Epps and Andrew Wingard to the NFL, the Pokes are counting on Halliburton to anchor the defensive backfield in 2019.
