Another fall sport at the high school level making its 2019 season debut this weekend is cross country.

There are four in-state meets that teams will be participating in, but also a couple of out-of-state competitions drawing a few Wyoming teams.

Here’s the schedule. We will post results once they are received.

Buffalo Invitational:

The Buffalo girls won on their home course, while the Riverton boys topped the gentlemen's field on Friday. Buffalo's Lexi Rule won the girls' 5K race by 14 seconds over a teammate. In the boys' race, Tongue River's Wyatt Ostler captured first place by nearly a full minute over a teammate.

KW Beartrap Invitational on Casper Mountain:

The Natrona County Fillies and Sheridan Broncs capture the team titles. Individual honors went to Rawlins' Sydney Thorvaldson and Lander's Kaleb Simonson.

Green River Invitational:

Lyman won both teams titles at Friday's Green River XC Invitational. They also swept the individual honors with Elena Jensen and Jesse Fanos winning the girls' and boys' 5K races, respectively.

Mallo Invite at Newcastle:

Wheatland's Danielle Brown and Newcastle's Tristan Troftgruben both finished in second place, as the highest Wyoming student-athletes in the meet.

Billings Invitational:

Cody's Riley Smith finished runner-up in the girls' varsity division. The top finisher on the boys' side from Wyoming was also from Cody in Owen Preston. He took fifth place.

The Fillies took fourth as a team, while the Broncs placed ninth.

Lovell, Powell, and Worland also attended this meet.

Weber St. XC Invitational in Layton, UT (for high school teams):

Star Valley's Peter Visser finished 10th place, while Jackson's Ben Williams took 14th as the top boys' finishers from Wyoming. The top placer in the girls' race was Muriel Jones of Jackson in 34th.

Evanston (G=28th, B=36th), Jackson (G=12th, B=20th), Rock Springs (G=DNP, B=35th and Star Valley (G=22nd, B=17th) competed in this meet Friday, Aug. 30.
