After most teams participated in meets in the state for the first weekend, it’s a good mix of in-state and out-of-state action for week two of high school cross country.

Three meets will happen in Wyoming with one Friday in Cheyenne and two on Saturday in Douglas and Ethete.

The meets that are of out-of-state are in Colorado, Idaho, and Montana.

Here’s the schedule with only in-state schools listed:

Friday, Sept. 6:

Wyoming Invite in Cheyenne at Little America Golf Course - Cheyenne South, Gillette, Kelly Walsh, and Natrona County

The Natrona girls came in third place, while the NC boys took seventh. The top individuals were Fillies freshman Hailie Willhelm in ninth and Mustangs senior Mason Henry in fifth.

Gering Invite (in Nebraska) - Pine Bluffs and Torrington attended

Torrington's Cora Frederick came in seventh place individually for the Trailblazers.

Pine Bluffs placed second in the team race, while Piper Perez finished in second place individually.

Torrington's Aydan Loya placed 11th.

Pine Bluffs boys came in third place as a team. They were led by Colby Stockton, who took third place.

Hardin High School Invitational – Big Horn, Moorcroft, and Powell

Hailey Jones of Moorcroft was the runner-up, while Powell placed sixth as a team. On the boys' side, Tyler Pfeifer took third and helped the Panthers take third as a team.

Saturday, Sept. 7:

Chief Nation Invite in Ethete - Wyoming Indian, Arapahoe, Cody, Lander, Riverton, and Tongue River

The Cody girls put four runners in the top eight led by Riley Smith who won the race in 19:10.2. The Lander boys placed four runners in the top six with Kaleb Simonson winning his second meet of the season in a time of 16:25.9.

River Run at Douglas – Douglas, Buffalo, Glenrock, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Thermopolis, Thunder Basin, Wheatland, Worland, and Wright

Buffalo's Kendall Tietjen and Alex Cahhal swept the River Run 5K races in Douglas Saturday. No team scores were provided. Varsity results begin on page 6.

Cardinal Classic in Soda Springs, ID – Evanston, Green River, Lyman, Mountain View, Rock Springs, and Star Valley

Star Valley's Peter Visser won the boys' 5K race in 16:20.40. He helped the Braves finish in fifth place. Elena Jensen of Lyman took 14th in the girls' race. The Evanston girls placed seventh in the team race.

Liberty Bell Invitational in Littleton, CO – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Jackson, Laramie, Rawlins, and Saratoga

Rawlins star Sydney Thorvaldson competed individually Saturday and won the race in a meet record. Ben Williams of Jackson came in fifth place in his division.

The Jackson girls won Division 1 with 99 points. Sophomore Kate Brigham finished sixth individually.

Laramie finished third place in the Division 2 girls team race. Senior Abigail Whitman took seventh place. Cheyenne Central won the boys Division 2 team title. Senior Trevor Stephen took fourth place.

Rawlins girls placed eighth in Division 3 led by freshman Harris Tanner, who was fifth overall. Saratoga took sixth in the boys' Division 3 team race with Rawlins in seventh. Saratoga's Grant Bartlett finished runner-up.
