10,000 adult pheasants have been purchased by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to replace a pheasant crop that had to be destroyed last spring due to bacterial infection.

The Downar Bird Farm located near Yoder,WY had to destroy their crop of pheasants because of a bacterial infection that broke out among the crop last Spring. To replace the pheasants that were lost the Wyoming Game and Fish Department will no be purchasing 10,000 pheasants from a private bird farm.

The purchased pheasants will consist of a 50-50 mix of roosters and hens. The supplied pheasants will be delivered to the Downar Bird Farm in early October following health examinations. The new pheasants will allow the department to operate the Springer Special Pheasant Hunt and will also allow the stocking of pheasants in Goshen, Platte and Laramie Counties through November 2011.
